Seeking God

I read 2 Chronicle 33 and was astonished on how the Lord our God changed a person.

In this chapter, the name Manasseh was mentioned. He was 12 years old (an elementary/primary school student in our time) when he began to reign, and it says also that he reigned for 55 years in Jerusalem. But during his reign, he did things that is against the will of God. It is an abomination to the Lord. He made altars for the idols and carved images. He also observed times (observed the heavenly constellations and made them the clock that brought good or evil), and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with familiar spirits and with wizard...all of these is evil in the sight of God and would also provoke God to anger.

But the Lord is powerful. A mighty God who knows what He is doing and who can change a person like Manasseh.

God won't leave or forsake us because He loves us. But He did allowed afflictions to Manasseh because that's the only way for him to turn to Him.

In verse 12 to 13 it says

And when he (Manasseh) was in affliction,
he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly
before the God of his fathers,
And prayed unto Him: and he was entreated of Him,
and heard his supplication,
and brought him again to Jerusalem unto his kingdom.
Then Manasseh knew that the Lord He was God.

I tweet on this as i was very inspired by the story. It was, at first, made me feel bad about Manasseh but in the end i was really glad knowing about the greatness and faithfulness of God. The Lord of heavens and earth rules. The One who says, that here HE WILL PUT HIS NAME FOREVER.

Manasseh took away the strange gods and repaired the altar and sacrificed peace and thank offerings unto the Lord his only God.

Afflictions allowed by God changed Manasseh and made him seek the Lord. Will we wait for afflictions to come before we seek the Lord? I hope not.

Isaiah 55:6
Seek ye the LORD while He may be found,
call ye upon him while He is near:

To God be the glory forever and ever.
